Tom Cannell loved to cook
Memorial visitation will be Friday afternoon, Mar. 24, 2023, with rosary at 7:15 p.m.
Thomas “Tom” Cyrille Cannell of Roscoe was born May 25, 1950, to Thomas and Cecilia (Maes) Cannell in Rockford , IL.
Growing up, he enjoyed cooking and knew his way around a kitchen. He started his cooking career at Hollywood Wayside in Rockford. Later he owned and managed Hollywood Dining Center in Portage WI, where they remained for 14 years.
While living in Portage, he and Sheri were active in the community. Tom played sports and was president of Kiwanis and was a Master of the Masons.
The couple moved back to the Rockford area in 1992, and opened Sheri’s Place in Rockford. He operated the business for 30 years. Tom and Sheri were married nearly 50 years.
Tom passed away in his home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. He was 72 years old.

Tom and his mother were members of St. Bridget Catholic Church when he was young. Later he enjoyed attending Grace Lutheran Church with his family. Tom loved volunteering at the Rockford Rescue Mission and was a Scoutmaster for Pack 411.
Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports. He loved hiking and fishing at Rock Cut State Park.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Sheri; his children Char (Steve), Tricia, Tommy (Erin).
He was grampa (Bopa) to nine grandchildren: Kirstin; Kylee; Isabella; Nikolas; Blake; Parker; Abi; Ethan; and Logan; godson, Chad; siblings-in-law, Karen, Teresa, and Rob; sisters; Debbie and Mary; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents and in-laws Carl and Pat Lee.
His memorial visitation will be held at the Delehanty Funeral Home, 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2023, with rosary recitation at 7:15 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Avenue, Loves Park, IL, preceded by visitation from 10:30 a.m. to service time. Cremation rites were accorded.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
