Talcott Free Library reports strong growth, high community impact in FY26
The report highlights the library’s economic value to residents, estimating $1.18 million saved through borrowing instead of purchasing books.
Talcott Free Library saw another year of strong engagement and rising community value, according to its newly released FY26 Annual Report. The data shows increases in patron activity, digital use, and circulation, underscoring the library’s role as one of Roscoe’s most relied‑upon public resources.
The library added 367 new patrons, bringing its total to 3,059 active cardholders. Visitors continued to use the library at high levels, with 43,285 in‑person visits and 45,954 online visits, reflecting steady demand for both physical and digital services.
Digital access remained a major part of the library’s footprint. Patrons logged in to Wi‑Fi 2,596 times and used the library’s mobile app 11,901 times, signaling continued growth in on‑the‑go engagement.
Circulation numbers also climbed. Talcott added 2,108 new materials, bringing its collection to 48,334 items. Patrons checked out 53,042 physical items and 19,000 electronic materials over the fiscal year.
The report highlights the library’s economic value to residents, estimating $1.18 million saved through borrowing instead of purchasing books, e‑materials, DVDs, audio items, and magazines. Books alone accounted for more than $809,000 in community savings.
Meeting and study spaces remained in high demand, with 1,585 total room uses across Rooms A, B, C, and the Keefer space.
Talcott’s social media presence also continued to grow, reaching 3,098 followers on Facebook, 801 on Instagram, and 702 on TikTok, helping the library connect with patrons beyond its physical walls.
Library officials said the numbers reflect Talcott’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible resources, modern technology, and welcoming community spaces for all ages.
