Strong spirits: peace

Peace of mind and heart can be an elusive thing to find these days, and even harder to hold onto.  In a recent very informal poll, when asked, "What robs you of your peace?", some of the answers were:  the news; anger; worry; fear; envy; jealousy; hatred; unforgiveness; finances, relationships; health.  If I asked you that question, how would you answer?

Here's another question:  what is your source of peace?  Again, lots of answers.  But there is one which can be accessed and has a great record for longevity.

The apostle Paul wrote:  "Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers, ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.  And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6,7)

Whether it is the busyness of the holidays, the current state of the nation or world, or your personal needs, putting those things into God's hands prayerfully, and with thanksgiving, gives us access to the greatest peace there is:  God's peace.  Try it!
