Strong spirits: hope

You can live without faith, but nobody lives long without hope.

What do you hope for?  Have  you ever said, "It's hopeless"  or "He's hopeless"?  Hope is an essential element of our lives.  Without hope, we slip into despair.  While I don't recommend it, you can live without faith, but nobody lives long without hope.

Hope is like an anchor that we can hold onto when things are rough. The Bible says, "Faith is assurance of things hoped for..." (Hebrews 11:1).  Faith and hope work together.  It also says, "May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace by means of your faith in him, so that your hope will continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:13).

That's my prayer for you today.  The world can be pretty hopeless.  It can be overwhelming, dark, hard, distressing.  But God is the author of hope.  And in these days, we need it- and him- more than ever.

Ask God to fill you with hope!
