Strong spirits: business card

Do you have a business card?  What's on it?  Your name, your business, contact information, maybe what you specialize in...  Does your card say anything about what you believe, or what is most important to you?  Does your business card talk about your job, or about your calling?

For most of us, the card would give only the briefest information and would talk about the job, the work we do.  There can be a vast difference between the work we do and the calling on our lives.  I wonder, have you ever asked yourself, "What is the calling on my life?"

If Jesus had a business card, what would have been on it?  It might have been hard to get it all on a card!  I believe that for Jesus, his work and his calling were the same.  He stated it differently at different times:  "I have come that you might have life abundantly." (John 10:10)  "I have come to seek and to save the lost." (Luke 19:10)  "The Son of Man came to destroy the works of the devil" (1 John 3:8) "My food is to obey the will of the one who sent me and to finish the work he gave me to do." (John 4:34)

Jesus finished his work on the cross by dying, paying the price for our sins, and setting us free from sin, death, and the devil.  He knew his calling and fulfilled it.

Do you know your calling?  Does what you do day to day fit with who you are at your core?  I believe God has a calling for each of our lives and will help us find it and live it out, if we'll let him.  Have you?  Are you?  Will you?
