Strong spirits: availability
If you're available, you could change the world.
Were you ever in a group of friends, waiting to play some sport, while someone chose who got to be on which team, or even who got to play? It could be unnerving and even embarrassing - especially if you weren't chosen.
Well, I have good news for you! Jesus chooses you for his team!
There was a time when Jesus chose his apostles, his inside team of 12, from the large number of disciples that were following him (Luke 6). He prayed all night, then made his selection. He chose ordinary, and even unlikely men, whose primary ability was apparently this: their availability. They wanted to submit and serve Jesus.
Availability is still the primary ability that Jesus looks for in one who would choose to follow him. Am I willing to go where he leads and do what he calls me to do? Are you? If so, he chooses us - ordinary, unlikely us - to walk with him and change the world.
Are you available?
