The 2024 spring sports season really filled up the Hononegah High School trophy case.

From girls softball and boys baseball winning NIC 10 conference titles to boys volleyball going deep into the IHSA playoffs, the 2024 sports season will be remembered as a season of championship play across every sport.

The Hononegah girls softball team won 17 of 18 NIC 10 conference games, garnering 28 wins. The Indians made it all the way to the sectional semifinal but came up one game short of the sectional final and a chance to go to state. They dropped the game 7-3 to Barrington. On the season, Hononegah scored over eight runs per game while only allowing just a tick over three runs, led by two seniors Danielle Franz and Natalie Kinney.

Baseball saw a season-long battle with Boylan for the conference title - 24 wins on the season and going 17-1 in NIC 10 conference play. The Indians reached the sectional final but dropped a tough one to Hampshire .

Coach Lassen Fleege and the 24 member rugby team  played nine very competitive matches,  including the Girls High School Rugby Nationals in Cottage Grove, WI. The sport continues to get more and more student athletes, having been a part of the Hononegah athletics offering for 5+ years now.

Girls soccer  finished 3rd at 6-2 in the NIC 10 conference, finishing with an 8-9 overall record, led by Illinois State signee Molly Hughes. The Lady Indians were able to get a postseason 3-2 win over the Algonquin Jacobs squad.

Sophomore Braden Monson got a postseason victory for the Hononegah Indians tennis team. The 6’3” sophomore should be one of the leaders of the John Torrence led program for the years ahead.

Boys volleyball dropped the sectional final to Wheaton - St Francis. The Hononegah Indians were led by five seniors; Nicolas Commisso, Aiden Ehrlich, Trenton Lundsten, Brogan Hansmeier, Colin Hahn.

Hononegah alumni Briella Sendele was a part of the winning Rock Valley College softball team. On the season, the freshmen utility player for RVC played in 38 games, batting .284 while knocking in 24 runs and hitting 2 home runs for the 29-13 Golden Eagles.
