South Beloit’s Ace Richard Carlson Signs with Rock Valley College to Play Baseball

South Beloit baseball didn’t just put together a winning season — they built an identity. Behind a 13–11 record with a roster that refused to back down, and at the center of that push stood their 6-foot-3, 205‑pound workhorse on the mound.
Across 27 appearances over his career, he has become the kind of pitcher every coach wants and every opponent hates to see warming up. His 8–5 record only tells part of the story. The real headline is the 2.09 ERA, a number that speaks to command, poise and a season spent shutting down rallies before they ever had a chance to breathe.

Interesting fact is that Carlson's older sister Madison Carlson just finished up her career at Northern Illinois after starting at RVC herself. Madison is also a SOBOs graduate.
