South Beloit, IL - The SOBOs hit the field last Friday, August 22, 2025 for their Red and White scrimmage to showcase the work they put in this offseason. It was week zero for NUIC football teams.

South Beloit, coming off a 6-4 record and postseason berth, is looking to repeat its winning record and playoff berth. Coach Josh Redieske and his staff really got some good work in the weight room this offseason, and the program continues to generate excitement off last year's playoff berth.

The Friday night scrimmage helped to set first game roles as some players who fought for starting spots got the chance to state their case.

The official roster hasn't been posted yet (most teams don't release rosters to the public prior to the first game); however, I can say with some certainty that returning senior QB Landen Reed will lead the SOBOs offense, which averaged 25 points a game last season. Reed was able to connect with senior WR Layden Cook for seven scores last year. On the defensive side, the SOBOs lose Mr Everything Trudane Peterson, who had 10 rushing TDs on offense, also played linebacker and was around the ball a ton. Senior WR/DB Kaden Cook was a one-man no-fly zone last season, with his team leading six picks.

The South Beloit SOBOs open up their 2025 season at home Friday night as they play host to Christian Life.
