Snow is coming, snow emergency declared for the Village of Roscoe
All vehicles must be removed from public roadways on Saturday.
The Village of Roscoe is declaring a Snow Emergency to coincide with a Winter Storm Warning in effect from 9:00 am through midnight, January 1, 2022.
A snow emergency means that all vehicles must be removed from public roadways within the Village of Roscoe limits. The Village says, "Please avoid all unnecessary travel, and exercise extreme caution when driving during the storm event. Salt and plow trucks will be active throughout the day and night. Please maintain a safe separation from trucks of at least 100 feet."
The National Weather Service expects "steady, blowing snow and dangerous travel... [with] total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches... Northeast winds could gusts up to 35 mph Saturday afternoon and evening.... Travel could become very difficult. Blowing snow
after sunset Saturday could significantly reduce visibility, especially in open areas.... The heavier snow rates appear most likely between 2 and 8 PM Saturday."
Other municipalities, such as Village of Rockton, are receiving the same warning. The Village of Rockton advises residents to "remove your vehicles from public streets when approximately two inches of snow has fallen or is predicted to fall." And more than two inches is predicted to fall.
