Smoke Investigation Quickly Resolved at South Beloit Thornton’s

A brief scare at the Thornton’s Gas Station on Willowbrook Road brought multiple fire departments to the scene Wednesday afternoon, but the situation was resolved without incident.

Harlem‑Roscoe Fire Department was dispatched at 3:54 p.m. after reports of smoke showing at the station. Mutual aid units from North Park and Loves Park Fire Departments also responded as part of the initial call.

Battalion Chief Mike Huffman led the on‑scene investigation and confirmed that no hazards were found. The smoke source posed no threat to the public, and the incident was declared under control shortly after crews arrived. All units were released once the scene was deemed safe.

Fire officials thanked their mutual aid partners for the quick support and reminded residents that any sign of smoke or suspected emergency should be reported immediately by calling 911.
