Senior Hononegah Indian Emma Clark signs with Saint Xavier University

Emma Clark signed her national letter of intent to play basketball for the Saint Xavier University Cougars earlier this week. She has been on the varsity girls Hononegah basketball team since her freshman year.

Emma expects to major in accounting while at Saint Xavier University. Clark is a National Honor Society member.  Saint Xavier is an NAIA school that competes in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).

The 5-8 senior is one of the leaders on the Lady Indians basketball team that currently is 6-0 in the NIC 10 and 9-1 overall. This season, Emma Clark is one of the team leaders in steals and 3 pointers made.

Clark missed her junior campaign battling a blood infection in her hip. She was coming off a 1st team all-conference performance as a sophomore. Saint Xavier University was able to see her in travel ball and recruited her to campus.

Last season Saint Xavier University finished inside the top 25 in the last poll of the 2021-2022 season.

Did you know: only 7% (1 in 13) of high school athletes go on to play a varsity sport in college.

Thank you to Saint Xavier University, Emma Clark, Hononegah assistant athletic director Andrew Walters, and the Hononegah Girls Basketball Twitter account for images and information for the story.
