Saundra Page Strote was passionate about reading

Saundra P. Page Strote of South Beloit, Illinois, known to her sons and grandchildren as “Grandma Chickie,” was a passionate reader who found solace and joy in the pages of countless books. She frequently devoured several books in a week. Saundra enjoyed everything from romance, mysteries and biographies. She made sure to have several physical books, plus her Kindle, whenever she left the house. She also loved working on Sudoku puzzles.
Saundra passed away at the age of 86, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Saundra was born in November 4, 1937, in Rock Island, Illinois. She was the daughter of Ralph W. and Cleo (Batts) Page. Saundra graduated from Rock Island High School, Class of 1955. She worked for several area banks as chief teller. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in South Beloit.
Saundra cherished the simple joys of life. She had a playful side that brought joy to her and her family. She embraced the world of old-school Nintendo video games, immersing herself in the adventures of Zelda and the thrill of her favorite off-road truck racing game.
Saundra had a special place in her heart for dogs and horses. She found immense joy in their companionship and had a soft spot for all furry friends, especially her sweet Boston Terrier, Kelly, whom she loved and cherished beyond measure.
Saundra was deeply devoted to her family. She took great pleasure in spending time with them, sharing stories, and creating memories filled with laughter. Her warmth, love, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons Stephen (Stephanie) Strote, South Beloit, and Kenneth (Dana) Strote, Johnsburg, Illinois; grandchildren Margaret “Peggy” (Jack) Poirier, Casey Strote and Noah Strote.
A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, Illinois.
