Santa’s Attic is packed with Christmas goodies at garage-sale prices

Linda Sonneson (L) is the person behind the success of Santa's Attic.  The annual Christmas holiday sale began three years ago when Sonneson started buying up holiday decorations that did not sell at estate sales.  Marilyn Mohring, (R) President of Rockton Township Historical Society Museum and several members have worked hard to get all the holiday items ready for the sale.  Today is the final sale day, but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of treasures left.  Santa's Attic is open 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The museum is located at 529 Green St. in Rockton.

For holiday decorating early-birds and bargain-hunters, it’s hard to beat the huge assortment of Christmas décor to be found at rock bottom prices at the annual Santa’s Attic, located in the Rockton Township Museum, 529 Green St. in Rockton.

The sale started last weekend, Nov. 12 and 13, and continued Friday, Nov 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20.

Today is the last day to visit Santa’s Attic.

Don’t worry that the pickings might be slim. There are still plenty of choice decorations to be had.

The idea of a holiday sale started three years ago when Linda Sonnneson, a long-time member of the Rockton Township Historical Society began visiting estate sales. She found lots of holiday treasures and bought out all that did not sell at the estate sale.

Sonneson took them home, cleaned them up and repaired the glasses, plates, dolls, wreaths, jewelry, Santas and snowmen and anything else that needed a little TLC.

The first Santa’s Attic sale was a big success and has continued to grow every year. Now Sonneson’s visits to estate sales is a year-round passion.

“It’s a lot of work, but I enjoy it,” she said. “We start getting ready for the sale the end of October.”

Sonneson said the Santa’s Attic sale has been very successful for the historical society.  Proceeds are used for maintenance at and programs at the museum.
