You would think you were at a Florida beach the first time you see the crystal clear blue water and soft sand at Pearl Lake Beach and Camping Resort, located on 207 acres, at 1220 Dearborn Avenue in South Beloit, IL. Now open for the season, the 50- acre lake offers swimming, canoeing, water games, and certified scuba diving. Park model homes and 339 seasonal RV sites are available from April 15 through October 15.

Once a rock quarry, it now offers sandy beaches, clear water RV camping opportunities, and permanent park model homes. Daily beach rates are also available.

Pearl Lake Beach is located at 1220 Dearborn Avenue, off Route 251 in South Beloit. It is open daily, 10:00 AM -5:00 PM

Ginger Smith, manager of the beach resort, said there are several new features this year. Twenty-four waterfront lots overlooking the beach are now available. Some of the 400 sq. ft beach houses will be elevated, while others will include cantilevered decks right on the waterfront. Smith said there has been significant interest in the beach houses.

Ginger Smith is the general manager of Pearl Lake Beach. She is pictured in the new playground area on the 207- acre property. The property includes a 50- acre beach, RV camping, park models and a certified scuba diving area.

The Pearl Lake admissions and registration building and bar are located next to the parking lot. Public access to the camping resort is from 10:00 AM - to 5:00 PM. Single-day admissions are $25.00 per person. Age two and under are free.

A wooden walkway spans and separates the swimming location from the boating and water sports area. A designated scuba diving zone is along the shoreline. Licensed divers can explore a sunken bus, truck, and plane beneath the water surface. Visibility is 30 ft.

While there are no restaurants on the property, two or more food trucks are located in the parking area throughout the week. More food truck options are available on weekends.

A Town Square has been added this year. Campers and seasonal guests can play basketball or enjoy a game of pickle-ball. Playground equipment is available for the younger children. The Fan House on the grounds has a pool table, a ping-pong table, and board games. Special events can be scheduled in the building.

Beach house sites are currently available for purchase. Some will be situated on the beach overlooking the shore. Others will have decks cantilevered over the water.
