The slate of candidates vying for a trustee seat is Mike Sima, Teresa Skridla, and Hannah Day.
Candidates for the 2027 Roscoe Village Board, family, friends and community came together to hear hopes, and goals of each person who is running.
Trustee Michael Wright is running for the position of Roscoe Village President. Wright opened his comments by reflecting on the aftermath of the storms that had run through the village the Friday prior to the event.
“I am glad everybody is OK, I got hit pretty hard. We actually had fun cleaning up. Village Trustees Dayne Mead and Mike Sima were there too. We turned an eight hour day into some fun and games, that is part of our yellow.”
Wright added, “We are high on energy, we are big on enthusiasm, we inspire to do some better things here. We are trying to create an energetic vibe for Roscoe.
Wright announced, “I am running for village President. I have a lot of ideas for Roscoe. It is not a Mayor's position, it is a Village Presidents position, which means that the board really runs the show.
We are really big on small business and are great supporters. We want to help local businesses. Wright wished Jessica well after a fire had broken out there.
We don’t want to raise any taxes, we would rather work and to build things here, to create that tax base and take that burden off. We are in Illinois, that is all I need to say. “
Wright has lived in Roscoe close to 28 years and has served as a Trustee since 2023. In addition to serving as a Trustee he also is the President of Rock River Multisport. He has also served on the Stateline Chamber of Commerce and as a Chamber Ambassador for the Rockford Chamber of Commerce.
Wright is also actively a driving force behind the Roscoe Business Alliance.
Trustee Mike Sima who has served for three years is running again for Trustee. Sima said, “I met this guy running, we didn’t know each other until we served on the board together.
He will be a tremendous president for us. I have never seen somebody that volunteers or cares more about Roscoe. That is the reason that I am running as well. We have a great team."
Sima added, ” We are not politicians and it is funny that we are here tonight politicking.
It is all about us, we are a team. We are going to make this movement even bigger.
We are getting out early but the election is in April of next year. We appreciate all of your support.”
In addition to being a trustee Sima has served on several professional boards.
The next candidate to introduce herself was Teresa Skridla who is currently serving on the Roscoe Village Zoning Board of Appeals and is running for a Trustee seat again.
Skridla ran last year and received over 200 write-in votes.
Skridla said, “Being on the Zoning Board has been very enlightening to me, I really enjoy it and it gives me a great base to learn and is really up my alley as a Realtor. "
Skridla currently is the MLS (Multiple Listing Service in real estate) Board President for Rock/Green Counties in WI. She is the treasurer of her HOA (Homeowners Association) .
Hannah Day is running for Trustee.
Day said, “We moved to Roscoe a year ago, we lived in Machesney Park right on the outskirts of Roscoe. We were always coming up and supporting the local businesses.

I am looking forward to having more events and things where we can just come together as a community.”
Wright referred back to the actions taken by many after the storms.
“We saw a lot of that community coming together during the storms. I was out until after midnight the night of the storm delivering cookies and drinks to the Public Works, the police and the fire department. People were still helping people close to midnight and checking on each other, and it was really cool to see.
Roscoe Middle School also offered a place of shelter.
