ROSCOE

Decoration Day will be duly observed here Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the M.E. Church. Rev. Pearson of Argyle will be the speaker of the day. In the evening in the Town Hall the graduating class of the Roscoe High School give their play "The Fruits of the Wine Cup", and a varied program. Ticket 10 and 15 cents.

The Spider Web Social at the home of Mrs. C. Wilcox was a very pleasant affair. The men were rewarded by finding at the end of their labors boxes of candy and the names of the partners with whom they were to be enjoyed .

Burglars made an unsuccessful attempt to blow open the safe at the Hutchins and Whiting Elevator at Roscoe on Monday night. The knob and locks were smashed and it was found necessary to get an expert before the safe could be opened. It is thought that two strangers who have been about town may have something to do with the affair.

Mrs. Lloyd was in Belvidere Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Taft were in Rockford Saturday.

Rev. Smith of Rockton gave a very able address in the M.E. Church at Roscoe Sunday morning.

Dr. C. Andrus and wife of Rockford called on Mrs. Rhodes Sunday.

Annie Lyford and Bert Hutchins took Sunday dinner in Rockton at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gleasman.

Mr. and Mrs. O.V. Sherman of Rockford spent Sunday at the home of Jabez Love

Mr. A.D. Lawrence is visiting at D.A. Sturdevant's.

Mrs. Dick Stevens is very sick. Her sister Mrs. Pott, of Corliss, Wis., is with her.

Mr. and Mrs. Warner of Belvidere spent Friday with Mrs. Stevens.

UPDATE

Mrs. Richard Stevens of Roscoe, who has ill for some time with cancer, died in that village yesterday. She is survived by her husband, two brothers and four sisters. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon, Reverend Quincy Dowd officiating.

MISCELLANEOUS

Everybody will rejoice to hear that the hens are laying only strictly fresh eggs this year.

Germany leads the world in the production of beet sugar, British India in cane sugar, United States in millionaire sugar refiners.

Judging by the thickness of the dust on the farm so early in the season there appears to be no diminution this year of the popularity of the automobile.

Russian Revolutionaries Convicted

St. Petersburg - The court-martial of 11 revolutionists resulted in the sentencing of four of the accused to death and six to periods of penal servitude. One was acquitted.
