Roscoe forum to connect Northern Winnebago voters with 2026 Democratic field
Wide assortment of Democratic Party candidates for federal and statewide seats make their way to Roscoe Township Community Center this Saturday (January 31st) from 9:30 to 11:00 am
With the 2026 primary season heating up, residents of northern Winnebago County will have a chance to step away from the headlines and talk face-to-face with the people asking for their votes.
On Saturday, January 31, a multi-organizational "Meet the Candidates" event will take over the Roscoe Township Community Center from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Hosted by Stateline Indivisible, Northern WinnDems, and the Winnebago County Democrats, the morning is being billed as a community-first conversation rather than a standard political rally.
Highlights of the morning include having all four Democratic candidates vying for the office of Illinois Comptroller, IL-16th District congressional candidate Paul Nolley, and US Senate candidate Robin Kelly This marks a significant gathering of the primary field, as the candidates look to distinguish themselves on fiscal management and state oversight. Confirmed participants for the Comptroller's race include:
- Stephanie Kifowit, State Representative
- Margaret Croke, State Representative
- Holly Kim, Lake County Treasurer
- Karina Villa, State Senator
The meet and greet/discussion will be led by a pair of local leaders: Litesa Wallace, founder of LITE Strategies, and Aiden Phommachanh, founder of Young Progressives of Hononegah. Following the moderated panel, the format will shift to a more informal setting, allowing attendees to speak one-on-one with the candidates.
While the Comptroller race is a major draw, the forum will also feature several other high-profile Democratic candidates representing various levels of government:
- US Senate - Rep. Robin Kelly
- Illinois Comptroller - State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit
- Illinois Comptroller - State Rep. Margaret Croke
- Illinois Comptroller - Lake County Treasurer Holly Kim
- Illinois Comptroller - State Sen. Karina Villa
- US Congress IL16 - Paul Nolley
- IL Senate District 45 - Joe Berning
- IL House District 90 - John Ping
- DPI State Central Committeeman - Kevin Lamm and Patrick Cortesi
Organizers are encouraging residents to attend this "unique opportunity" to influence the priorities of potential representatives before the upcoming elections.
