Roscoe Driver Services Facility remains closed, should reopen next week
The Roscoe facility is expected to reopen Wednesday, Jan. 26.
The Roscoe Express drivers license facility at the Village Hall - along with all Secretary of State departments statewide- will remain closed this week. As we reported, they were originally supposed to be closed from Jan. 3 through Jan. 17, 2022, to reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 18, because of a spike in COVID-19 cases. But the spike in Winnebago County has since gotten sharper, rising to almost 2000 new cases per hundred thousand before dropping again.
In a news release, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White said, "We are pleased to see what appears to be the beginning of a downswing in COVID-19 cases and, if this trend continues, we will reopen Jan. 24 for face-to-face transactions.” The Roscoe facility, however, should reopen Jan. 26, since it is normally open Wednesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Most of the services which are usually available at the Roscoe location can be handled online at ilsos.gov online. The Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) facilities in Rockford at 4734 Baxter Road has reopened for in-person CDL services only.
