Roscoe celebrates National Night Out
National Night Out in Roscoe was presented by police, fire and village officials.
There was a big party going on in downtown Roscoe Tuesday evening, Aug. 2, 2022. The Roscoe Police Department, Harlem Roscoe Fire District, and the Village of Roscoe hosted National Night Out.
The annual event, started in 1984, is generally held the first Tuesday in August. The idea of National Night Out is to enhance relationships between law enforcement and the community.
Cities and towns across America celebrate with special activities and programs.
The Roscoe Police Department, Harlem Roscoe Fire District, and the Village provided games, prizes, food, music and demonstrations, plus a car show in the fire station parking lot.
Special thanks to Sgt. Aaron Weber and his wife Kelly and to Roscoe Police Chief Jamie Evans, who organized the free event, and to the dozens of volunteers.
The fire station was the place to be for hotdogs and drinks. Chief Don Shoevlin said it was nice to see the interaction of the community with the public safety personnel. “It puts kids at ease.”
