Ronald Zawislak (1959-2022) cared for his truck, loved hot rod meets
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday morning, January 28, with visitation the previous afternoon.
Ronald "Ron" Zawislak of Roscoe passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 at age 62, after a short illness.
Born April 7, 1959 in Rockford, Illinois, he was the son of Anthony A. Zawislak and Victoria B. Olszewski. He attended St. Stanislaus Catholic Grade School and graduated from Rockford West High School in 1977. Ron worked for the J.B. Hunt Corporation as a transportation specialist and enjoyed being on the road and meeting people. Earlier, he was employed at Elco-Textron as a roll thread operator and later was a tool and die maker before becoming a trucker.
He loved spending time with his brother, sisters, nieces and nephews on the holidays and whenever special family events allowed. At an early age Ron displayed an interest in all types of cars and trucks, especially ones where he could pull off the wheels and axles and try to reassemble them, though not always successfully. He loved National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) meets and the excitement that comes with the roar of high horsepower motors launching a vehicle down a quarter mile racetrack. His love for trucks showed in the way he cared for the truck he drove every day and how important it was to stay safe on the roads.
