Trustees kept things moving at the Village of Rockton meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
With Christmas approaching quickly, the Board agreed to a request by Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful for a Christmas tree recycling location to be located in the 500 block of E. Main St. (near the boat launch.) A $500 donation to Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful was also approved.
Trustees supported an ordinance requesting a Special Use Permit for outdoor seating at Al’s Main Street Tap. Neighboring businesses and the Village have been discussing the change for several weeks, concerned about removing parking spaces on the west side of the tavern at 122 W. Main Street. Attorney Greg Cox, the former attorney for the Village who is now representing owner Al Pipitone, has said there would be no net loss in parking spaces - new ones would be created further down the street.
