In the news: young scientists, College Fair, pretrial release


Wednesday's news from Roscoe, Rockton, and South Beloit - what you'd expect from Rockton-Roscoe News on Wednesdays.
- The Roscoe Middle School Science Olympiad teams had phenomenal success at the regional competition on March 15 at Rock Valley College. The varsity team soared to 2nd place out of a strong group of eleven teams. The JV team took home 1st place in their division of four teams. Every student on both teams earned at least one medal, with many bringing home multiple accolades.
- Hononegah's school counselors are hosting their very first College Fair on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 between 6 - 8 p.m. in the Student Commons. About 18 colleges will be represented.
- Circuit Judge Brendan A. Maher will hold a hearing tomorrow morning to decide whether to continue to deny pretrial release to Anthony Dusso of South Beloit. Dusso has been a Lutheran pastor in Beloit and Rockford. He was arrested in March 13 on charges of child pornography and has been held in the Winnebago County Jail since then. Dusso is the father of three adult children.
