Goodbye Molly, second Chemtool payment, car shows

Sunday's hot news, with heat indexes reaching 100, from Rockton-Roscoe News. We're exclusively about Rockton, Roscoe, and South Beloit. Scroll down for the latest stories.
- The Roscoe location of Molly’s Deli has closed permanently. The gaming chain location was next to Whiskey Hotel Barbecue's Sunday-only location on Elevator Road. Corporate management told the Village of Roscoe that the unannounced closure as of April 1, 2025 was “due to revenue. We tried to make this location work but with the minimum wage increase over the last 5 years, the state increasing the tax on gaming revenue, increase in licensing fees and increase cost to do business has made Molly's unable to be profitable in the Roscoe area.”
- As a result of the Molly's decision, at its meeting on Tuesday, the Village of Roscoe is expected to reduce their number of available gaming licenses back down to eleven. Also on the agenda: approval for Poison Ivy Pub to temporarily serve beverages at the Roscoe Lions Fall Festival in September, as they have for several years. Under new ownership, Poison Ivy Pub is hosting the first of today's two car shows.
