In the news: more awards, robots scooting around, open burning

The latest news from Roscoe, South Beloit, Rockton - from the award-winning Rockton-Roscoe News.
- We did just win four more awards, this time from the Illinois Press Association, for news reporting, feature writing, and investigative reporting. It's just that we won't know what place our reporters got - first, second, or third - until the awards ceremony at the June IPA convention in Peoria. But we'll be delighted to tell you more later. The Illinois Press Association, founded in 1865, represents approximately 450 daily and weekly newspapers. We're classified as a small non-daily.
- Stateline Robotics #4655 is in the top 10 of 47 teams at the FIRST Robotics Wisconsin regional competition (WIMI), which continues Sunday at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds. The events are livestreamed, so you can catch the video replays.

- The spring open burning period in South Beloit runs until May 18, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. if the wind is less than 10 mph and the fire and smoke is controlled. Residents are allowed to burn yard waste generated on their own property, but not treated lumber, trash, or furniture.
- How could we serve you better?
