Second Chemtool payment, fiber is faster

Northern Illinois residents affected by the Chemtool disaster are expected to receive another $5.5 million as part of a second settlement in the class action lawsuit, this time from Holian Insulation. Final approval is Thursday, October 23 at 1:30 p.m. A key point: this settlement allows residents to make claims with Holian who missed out on making claims with Chemtool. Claimants who already received a payment do not need to do anything more to get a second one. However, Balogh did stress that new class members in the Holian settlement would not be eligible for funds from the earlier Chemtool settlement, as those funds were already dispersed.
Fiber internet travels at the speed of light. The Village of Roscoe and i3 Broadband invite Chicory Ridge Subdivision residents to an open house meeting to learn more about the upcoming Chicory Ridge Fiber Installation Project on Thursday, July 3, 2025, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM, at Roscoe Village Hall, 10631 Main Street, Roscoe, IL 61073. This open house will include project exhibits and give residents the chance to speak directly with representatives from i3 Broadband and Village staff about construction timelines, potential service impacts, and restoration plans.
