New ball fields, forever water testing, community calendar

- The Village of Rockton is sending out letters that they have tested in excess of Illinois acceptable limits for PFAS chemicals in their water. The new standards, revised this month, limit these "forever chemicals" to several parts per trillion. According to the letter, "The Village of Rockton's groundwater system, like many communities in Illinois, has shown low-level detections of these substances in its regular monitoring and testing... Village staff are already in the process of performing every IEPA recommended procedure to meet or exceed these new standards." The Village's 2024 Consumer Confidence Report will be released May 1, 2025. For questions, call Village Hall, (815) 624-7600 - Option 1.
