Macktown Golf Course in Rockton opens for play on Friday, April 18, 2025. You can start at 8:30 a.m. The golf shop at Macktown Golf Course is also open. You can reserve your tee time online, depending on weather. Built in the 1930s, Macktown Golf Course plays rapidly, with limited sand traps, mature trees, and established conditions.
This week's Hononegah School Board meeting on Wednesday had protesters on both sides of the concern over whether trans students are changing clothes in female PE locker rooms. The school hadn't changed its policy, which is based on current civil rights laws, nor was it considering changing it. One claim was that most students no longer change for gym class anyway. But are there any exceptions? HCHS Superintendent Michael Dugan reminded us of their current PE policy:

A student’s PE uniform must include appropriate athletic clothing and athletic shoes. Examples of “appropriate athletic clothing” include shorts, leggings, sweatpants, t-shirts, sweatshirts, or other articles of apparel chosen by the student that are designed for physical activity/exercise and fall within the HCHS dress code guidelines.... Athletic clothing will not include jean material, dresses/skirts, belts, costumes, or any other clothing material deemed unsafe by the PE Teacher or Administration.
