Rockton Historic Walking Tour: Part I
Sat Apr 13 11:00 am, Old Stone Church 101 E Union St. Rockton IL, 61072
Join the Rockton Historic Preservation Commission for the first in a three part series of historic walking tours.
We will tour a portion of Rockton’s National Historic District which was established in 1978. The district is significant because of the high concentration of Greek Revival buildings – a style that pays homage to the architecture of ancient Greece, the world’s first democracy.
The free tours will all start at the Old Stone Church, 101 E. Union, Rockton at 11 a.m. The second and third tours are scheduled for May 4 and June 1.
This tour is hosted by the Rockton Historic Preservation Commission in conjunction with research from the Rockton Township Historical Society.
