Road resurfacing on Atwood Road to begin May 22
The hill on Atwood Road between Burr Oak and Nan Road is not included in the construction work.
Harlem Township has posted lime-green flyers on mailboxes in the southeastern portion of greater Roscoe, Illinois. They announce that contractor Rock Road Companies will perform road resurfacing on Atwood Road between Belvidere and Nan Road starting the week of May 22, 2023. The construction work involves milling and grinding of the roadway and asphalt paving. There will be minor delays to traffic while milling operations and paving operations are taking place, but all roadways will still be fully accessible. Flaggers will direct traffic. Milling and paving operations will take place between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Milling will take place first, then paving operations will follow 3-4 working days later. Harlem Township's Highway Commissioner is Ed Tegland (815-633-2671).
The steep hill on northern Atwood Road between Burr Oak and Nan Road is in Roscoe Township, so it's not included in Harlem Township's construction work. Steve Schreier, Roscoe Township Highway Commissioner, told us, "Our Atwood road authority is from Nan intersection to Burr Oak (very small portion). As you recall we made some repairs to the bridge road surfaces recently. We do multi year planning with our engineering firm."
