Motorists traveling through our area can now plan to have updated timelines for the reopening of two major Rock River bridge projects, according to an announcement from Winnebago County Government on Tuesday October 27 2026.
County officials reported that the contractor overseeing the projects has revised the expected reopening schedules for both the Prairie Hill Road and Roscoe Road bridges.
The Prairie Hill Road bridge, located near the Village of Rockton and the City of South Beloit, is now expected to reopen to traffic during the week of Dec. 14, 2026.
The Roscoe Road bridge in the Village of Roscoe is expected to reopen to traffic during the week of Dec. 21, 2026.
Both projects have resulted in lengthy detours and traffic changes for area residents, commuters and businesses while crews complete significant infrastructure improvements along the Rock River corridor.
In its announcement, Winnebago County thanked residents and motorists for their continued patience as work progresses toward completion.
"The patience by residents and the travelling public is greatly appreciated as these important infrastructure projects are completed," the county stated.
Officials are also reminding motorists to remain alert when traveling near active construction zones and detour routes until the projects are fully completed and reopened.
The Rockton-Roscoe News will continue to provide updates on both bridge projects as additional information becomes available.
