Pole dance is sometimes described as an exotic, even risque, type of dancing. For anyone interested in fitness and strength training, pole dance is a terrific, complete body workout, and a lot of fun. Brenda Bounyavor, Chelsea Nicholson, and Jasmyn Steele, owners and instructors at PGF - Pure Gravity Fitness, 5494 Elevator Road, Roscoe, can attest to that.

All three women are self-taught through online classes. They instruct clients in a mainstream form of pole dance and aerial silks, using nothing more than gravity and their bodies

Pole dancing increases flexibility, upper body strength, core and leg strength, coordination, relieves stress, builds muscle, and burns fat. It also has physical, mental, and emotional benefits. “Classes are available in different levels, from beginners to experienced dancers,” Brenda said. "Six-month memberships are available. Class sizes vary from 5 to 12 people.”

"At first, pole dancing can be a little intimidating, but it really isn't difficult."
