Obituary: Scott Anders Gredenius: (1962-2021)
Memorial service will be held Tuesday July 13, 2021 at Broadway Covenant Church.
Scott Anders Gredenius, 59, of Roscoe IL passed away on Friday July 2, 2021. Scott spent much of his career working in law enforcement, including service with the Roscoe Police Department, Harlem Roscoe Fire, Rockford Auxiliary Police, Kirkland Police, Rockford Park District Police, Winnebago County Sheriffs Department and the Federal Protective Services, where he provided security for federal judges and military personnel.
Scott was a large fun-loving presence who could command a room, yet also get down to the level of a child to give them a stuffed animal and help comfort them in the unfamiliar setting of a courtroom. Scott had a big heart and will be remembered as a man who loved public service and all those involved with it. He would regularly check up on his friends and was always willing to help others.
Scott was born on May 25, 1962 in Rockford, the son of Anders and Arline (Saharek) Gredenius. He was a graduate of Rockford Guilford High School in 1981, attended Rock Valley College and graduated from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy at The College of DuPage in 2015.
While Scott enjoyed his career, his greatest joy came from spending time with his son Anders. Whether it was providing a fun, safe house to Anders and his friends, coaching various football teams, cheering from the stands, spending a day teaching firearm safety and shooting techniques or just cruising the back roads with Anders and the Public Guardians LEMC Rock Solid Chapter motorcycle club, Scott loved his son and was so proud of him.
Scott is survived by his son Anders of Roscoe, parents Anders and Arline Gredenius of Rockford, sister Linda (Gary) Larson of Rockford, brother Chris (Sara) Gredenius of Arlington MA, numerous nieces and nephews, and former spouse Nicole Gredenius of Rockton.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 13, 2021 at Broadway Covenant Church with a visitation at 1:00 and service at 2:00PM. There will be a reception immediately following. A private family service will be held at Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The Greg Lindmark Foundation PO Box 91 Roscoe, IL 61073.
