In the news: memorial, hiring at the fire department, winning art, car wash
The dedication ceremony for the Brandon Rowe Memorial Highway will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 19, 2022 in the parking lot of First National Bank in Roscoe. A graduate of Hononegah High School, Spc. Rowe was the 64th U.S. casualty of the Iraq war, the 4th from Illinois, and the first from Winnebago County.

Ava Porter's metal sculpture titled "Steel Heart" was named best 3D artwork in the High School Division at the Rockford Art Museum's 81st Annual Young Artist Show. Ava is a senior at Hononegah Community High School. Sophomore Aryn Bachman's traditional film photography was recognized as a Rockford Art Museum Staff Pick. The exhibit includes about 300 works of art from more than 200 students, including eleven other pieces created by Hononegah students.
The Hononegah women’s rugby team will host its annual Car Wash Fundraiser on Sunday, March 20, from 12:00-3:00 PM, at the Hononegah School District office parking lot on Salem Street (between Main Street and Union Street). The event helps raise funds for league registrations, fees, and equipment. The cost is $5 per vehicle.
Roscoe Township will hold its 2022 Budget Hearing on March 23, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Township Offices. Immediately afterwards, they will hold a Special Meeting to review bids for the construction of Roscoe Township Community Center, which will be opened at 2:05 p.m. Approval of the bids will be laid over until a later date. The Annual Township meeting will be April 12, 2022 and the next regular meeting will be April 13, 2022.
