Both Hononegah and South Beloit high schools added more championships to their record this winter. Each boys basketball team won a regional title, South Beloit in 1A and Hononegah in 4A. So did Hononegah girls basketball, who were undefeated in NIC 10 conference play. Next, Hononegah boys basketball is playing on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Rock Valley College in the IHSA Sectional Semifinals. Hononegah girls bowling placed 7th in state. Hononegah's Charlie Hunt won first place in state in boys bowling. Angelina Cassioppi won her third straight state wrestling title, having been one of the first girls wrestling champions in Illinois. Several Hono boys wrestlers placed at state as well, after winning the NIC-10 championship and regional championship. Boys swimming has now won 14 straight NIC-10 championships. And the entire Hononegah math team is competing at ICTM State competition.
Justin Carner, the founder of Velvet Robot Coffee Lab, said on Instagram that they have finished the painting at their new Roscoe location and he expects to open by April 1, 2024 on the ground floor of Nick Sommer's COUNTRY Financial building at 10514 Main Street in Roscoe.
Rockton-Roscoe News is partnering with the League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford (LWVGR) to hold a candidate meet and greet at Roscoe Township Community Center on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 6 p.m. The goal is to provide nonpartisan voter information for the March 19 primary. Confirmed attendees at the Roscoe event include Jennifer Muraski, Coroner, Ray Thompson and John Guevara for County Board District 3, Roscoe, and Erik Jacobs for 17th Judicial Court 1st Sub Circuit Judge.
Megan Elsbree of Rockton has graduated from Missouri State University with a Master of Science, Interdisciplinary Studies. She is now working as assistant athletic trainer (Synchronized Skating/Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving) at Miami University of Ohio.
Two of the five Rockford Region Restaurant Week 'Best Of' winners were not in Rockford. With 1,805 votes cast, Dairyhäus won Best Dessert and Hidden Creek Estates won Best Experience.

More than 3,000 undergraduate students at Coastal Carolina University were named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2023 semester, including Reilly Guth, from Roscoe, IL. Typically, students on the Dean's List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester, out of 4.0.
