Rockton approves new police vehicle, eyes $1 million grant for streets
The Village of Rockton also discussed wastewater and yetis.
Rockton Village trustees approved the purchase of a new vehicle for the Rockton Police Department during the Jan. 4, 2022 Village meeting. Trustee Jody May said the purchase price for the 2022 Dodge Charger sedan was $29,365.16. The price originally was not to exceed $27,000, but circumstances made it necessary to purchase a different vehicle at a slightly higher cost.
President John Peterson added that the police department sold some vehicles and also some unused software which covered the cost of the vehicle.
Peterson said the Village has a lease program through Enterprise that has been beneficial in purchasing police vehicles.
Trustee Fridley reported the ongoing discussion of a DCEO grant application match of $200,000. The Village must agree to pay 20% of a $1 million federal-funded grant.
The Village has applied for federal grants for new street lights and improved streetscapes. The application was spearheaded by Village Engineer Kevin Bunge.
The board also discussed the progress of the Digester Rehab Project making repairs to the wastewater treatment plant. The work includes removal of existing metal covers and gas collection system, modification of the air intake line and installation of an aeration system.
