Nathan Shockley was born July 5, 1984, to parents Edward and Pamela (Strand) Shockley in Rockford, IL. After earning a GED, he opened his own successful business – Organic Lawn Maintenance in Shirland, IL.

Nate Jon Shockley passed away Dec. 27, 2022 after a vehicle accident.

Nate married Amy Yoho at the Church by the Side of the Road in Rockton on Sept. 5, 2015. Nate was a loving and supporting father and devoted husband. After their marriage, he adopted Amy’s boys and was a dedicated dad to all of their children.

His backyard in Shirland was his happy place: a place to spend time with his family, riding his ATVs and dirt bikes, swimming and grilling.

He was also a coin and art collector and loved to golf and travel with Amy.

In 2021, he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. He survived three months of grueling treatments with perseverance and a positive attitude. After treatment, he was pronounced cancer-free and in remission.

People who knew him said he had a heart of gold, was always outwardly focused and sought out those who needed support.

He is survived by his wife Amy, children Tyler Bilodeau, Marshall, Jordan and Jakob Shockley, father Edward Shockley, siblings Jodi (Martin) Shockley-Born, Jill (Robert Nimmo) Shockley, Candice Weaver, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends, Michael Wilder, Matthew Brown, “go to” handyman Jake (Sativa) Roerig, and his four- legged best friend, “Fat Boy).

Nate is preceded in death by his mother, Pamela.

Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, from 4 - 8 p.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St, Rockford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to his family.
