Rockton's electoral commission overruled Nolan's objections at the Dec. 2, 2024 hearing, but Nolan says he will appeal. He has also filed objections against other candidates.

Rockton, IL — Michael Nolan, Chairman of the Rockton Township Republican Central Committee and a committed advocate for Faith, transparent governance, and community involvement, has filed objections to the nomination papers of 3 Independent candidates for Rockton Township offices. The objections will be heard at a public meeting on December 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Rockton Township Hall, 1315 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, IL 61072.

Nolan emphasizes that the objections are not about politics but about principle and ensuring that all candidates meet the same filing standards as required by law.

"Independent candidates should meet the same rigorous standards as anyone else. When a candidate’s filings are inaccurate or incomplete, it’s a matter of principle to raise the issue."

"THESE OBJECTIONS ARE about integrity for the candidates and electoral process as well as fairness for the electorate," Nolan stated. "The residents of Rockton Township deserve confidence that every candidate, regardless of party or affiliation, complies fully with the law. Transparency and accountability are not just laws or political rules—they’re community values."

Nolan's objections highlight deficiencies in the nomination paperwork that undermine the election process and electorate confidence. Nolan has called for the board to address this conflict to preserve impartiality and build trust.

"Elections are the backbone of our democracy, and every decision must be above reproach. That’s why I believe transparency in this process is critical—not just for this election, but for the community's trust in local governance.”

“Right now, in Rockton Township these Hearings give us a chance to restore trust and show our commitment to election integrity. I urge the electoral board to address these issues transparently and impartially because the voters deserve honest and fair elections. The voters deserve Election Integrity.

Nolan hopes these objections will bring greater awareness to the importance of upholding election laws for everyone and fostering a transparent system that benefits all.
