Meet the District 3 candidates: John M. Guevara
John M. Guevara is running for the Winnebago County Board of Trustees.
Former Winnebago County trustee John M. Guevara is running against Roscoe Zoning Board chairman Jay Durstock in the June 28 Republican primary election for Winnebago County Board of Trustees District 3, which includes much of Roscoe. District 3 incumbent Steve Schultz, instead of running for re-election, decided to run for Winnebago County Treasurer against Sue Goral and Randy Johnson.
District 3 includes the Rock River, Riverside Park, Hononegah Forest Preserve, and many Roscoe restaurants. On the revised Winnebago County map, it is colored "thistle green."
Guevara is an account executive at Lucky Street Gaming. His website is johnmguevara.org
We asked each candidate to tell us why they should be elected as District 3 Trustee.
John M. Guevara
What are your qualifications for the Winnebago County Board of Trustees?
I served on the board for six years. I have a record of fighting for my constituents, never voting to raise property taxes, I voted to eliminate pensions for county board members, and always backed the blue. I will fight for District 3 residents every day.
Why are you running?
I believe District 3 residents need a board member who will fight for them. Take the multi family development issue for instance. My opponent voted for it. I would never vote for a project that was opposed by my constituents.
What do you hope to accomplish if elected?
I will fight against property tax hikes like the ones passed by the board in the past few years. I will also work with our local and state representatives for business development that creates quality jobs for residents in District 3.
What are the reasons that people should vote for you?
I am here to help you. That’s what your elected officials should do.
