Mary's Market in Roscoe is busy with catering and events now
Staff from Roscoe have all moved to the other two locations, which were short on staff too.
UPDATE: the Roscoe restaurant has been revived. The grand reopening is Monday, Sept. 23, 2024.
Even though the café is closed at Mary’s Market in Roscoe, the catering and special events staff are busy with more bookings than ever. Ambyr Koch, Director of Café Operations at Mary’s Market Café & Bakery, says that with the closure, no employees lost their jobs or even had their wages reduced. Each Roscoe café employee was offered at least two other positions at other locations. With more staff now at the Perryville and East State locations, those two cafés are open full hours. The Edgebrook café 0n North Alpine is temporarily closed.
Koch says they made the business decision to close their café in Roscoe because of staffing issues and besides, "our catering department is doing great with keeping the event space booked - we get multiple calls every day with inquiries about the space!" She says that since they own the building, the catering department is now able to use the entire premises, including the former café, for hosting events.

Koch explains that it was hard to keep enough staffing at four restaurant locations. "Roscoe was only able to be staffed until 3pm daily, and that was a struggle - we had staff working 10 hour days and we can’t keep that up. By closing Roscoe, the staff can move to our other locations so those cafes can be properly staffed too."
Will the Roscoe café ever reopen? Koch says they don't plan to do that, but adds that "we do own the building and we can reopen when the time is right." For one thing, they haven't removed any of their restaurant equipment. And the Roscoe location has indoor seating for 120 in the former café area, seasonal outdoor seating for 50, and banquet room capabilities for up to 160.
