Mark Snygg, 69, of Rockton, had a great love of singing, having spent over twenty years in the barbershop chorus and in Emmanuel Lutheran Church choir.

Mark passed away Tuesday August 30, 2022 in Beloit Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born on April 8, 1953 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Robert and Lillian (Meier) Snygg.

Mark was full of life, and was always eager to experience the world around him. He loved to travel and had a passion for photography.  Some of Mark's favorite subjects were flowers, family, and re-enactments at Midway Village.

Mark loved to go to restaurants. Some of his favorites included Nora's Place, Steak and Shake, and Beef-a-Roo where he would be sure to order a raspberry ice tea.  At home, his favorite meal was hamburger with mashed potatoes and corn.

You would often find Mark at dinner shows, including White Pines, Starved Rock, and the Fireside.  Mark loved to attend Ice Hog hockey games and events at the Rockford Speedway with his nieces and nephews.

Mark graduated from Illinois State with a degree in social work. He was very proud of his four years in the Navy as a torpedo technician.  Mark had a great love of his family, especially his five sisters. Most importantly, Mark had a great love for God, and attended church and Bible study regularly.

Survivors include his sisters Deb (Bill) Oliver, Valerie Loy, Cindy (Ashoka) Bhargava, Rhonda Nelson and Kathy Snygg; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers-in-law Mike Nelson and .

A funeral ceremony was held on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Rockton United Methodist Church, with Rev. Carolyn Lukasick officiating. His final resting place is Sunset Memorial Gardens in Machesney Park, Illinois.
