Marcia Soppe was a photographer for Harlem-Roscoe Fire
Visitation will be Friday evening, May 5, 2023, with funeral on Saturday.
Marcia Ann Soppe, age 55, of Roscoe, Illinois, was the administrative assistant at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens for 34 years. During her time at Sunset, she also was a photographer for the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District for 10 years
Marcia passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 surrounded by her family and friends.
Marcia was born on May 11, 1967 in Rockford, Illinois to Raymon and Dianne Howe. In 1985, Marcia graduated from Harlem High School and worked at Beefaroo before starting at Sunset.
Marcia married the love of her life Mark Soppe on February 14, 2005. Marcia enjoyed traveling with Mark on their Harley. They took numerous trips all over the United States. Tennessee was one of their favorite destinations. She belonged to the Fire & Iron Firefighter's Motorcycle Club Station 53. Her family says one of her favorite pastimes was beating up on her little brothers.
Marcia is survived by her husband Mark Soppe; daughters Treasure Roberts and Nicole (Shane) Roberts-Garr; grandchildren Kirsten, Dallas, Kaydin, David, Willow, and Zariyah; brothers Shawn (Carla) Keegan and Brian (Carrie) Howe; five nieces and nephews; extended family, Janet Roberts, Mark and Debbie Ritchie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Dianne Howe, and grandparents, Laverne and Doris Vasseur. The family appreciates all the love and support from extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 4- 8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Following the interment, a Celebration of Life will be held at Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main Street, Roscoe, IL 61073.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 5th floor ICU nurses at Javon Bea Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to Marcia. Thank you to Karen Buerkle-Ibach who stayed by Marcia's side in the hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.
