The Roscoe Police Department has been short-handed this year. One of the officers resigned recently which has stretched the number of officers on duty even more, and necessitated over-time hours.

Sergeant Tom Farone accepted the new position of Administrative Sergeant recently and another patrolman will move up to sergeant in 2022.

Officer Altamirano was hired a few months ago. The Police and Fire Commission interviewed and hired three more candidates: Phillip Harris, Travis Coburn and Nelson Lopez were hired on Wednesday, Nov. 17, bringing the number of officers to 19.

It will be a lateral move for the officers, coming from other police departments around the state. The lateral move means that they have already attended the police academy and completed training. The result will be officers who are ready to go on the street immediately.
