Please join us and take a step back in time to learn about Roscoe resident AJ Lovejoy (1845-1919).  AJ grew up on a farm along the Rock River in Harlem Township, spent years as a traveling salesman while running the farm, and was nationally known as a premier Berkshire hog breeder. His accomplishments include being selected as the President of the International Livestock Exposition and being inducted into the Saddle and Sirloin Club in 1920. Both are tributes to his impact on livestock breeding in the US.

Andrew Lovejoy helped establish the hog shows at the International Live Stock Exposition in the early years, and he also served as president of the exposition. He was president of both the Winnebago County and South Beloit fairs.

He earned a high reputation as a breeder of Berkshire hogs on his farm near Roscoe, Illinois, and he was in demand as a swine judge.

He was a member of the Illinois State Board of Agriculture for twelve years and was elected to the Illinois General Assembly. He published 40 Years Experience of a Practical Hog Man in 1914.
