Twins Paytra and Emerson are ready to start first grade at Ledgewood School this week. The girls and their parents were among families waiting to drop off school supplies before joining friends on the playground area for fun and games.

After a welcome summer break, children and teachers (and moms) were ready to begin a new school year at Ledgewood, Stone Creek, Kinnnikinnick Elementary, and Roscoe Middle School.

To kick off Roscoe’s new school year, the Roscoe PTO held an outdoor welcome back extravaganza in the playground area between Ledgewood and Stone Creek Schools, Monday, Aug 30, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Parents and kids lined up to drop off bags of school supplies in the gymnasium at Ledgewood and Stone Creek before heading for the fun stuff on the playground.

The Winnebago County Health Department was set up in the gymnasium, offering COVID 19 vaccinations to anyone interested.

There were games, a bounce house, food, a visit from Pickles the Clown, and the opportunity for kids to “dunk” their teachers in the dunk tank.

Teachers were on hand to meet and mingle with students and parents.

The 2021- 2022 school year got underway, Wednesday, September 1.

Starting time for elementary schools is 8:10 a.m., with dismissal at 2:25 p.m.

Roscoe Middle School begins at 9:14 a.m.  Dismissal is 3:20 p.m.
