Kids Spot acquires Wight Tumble Academy and J&J Dance and Tumbling
Kids Spot of Roscoe is expanding to Pecatonica.
Kids Spot, Inc., a leader in youth gymnastics and tumbling instruction in Roscoe, is excited to announce the acquisition of Wight Tumble Academy and J&J Dance and Tumbling, two respected and established programs known for their excellence in athlete development and community engagement.
This acquisition marks a significant milestone in Kids Spot’s mission to expand high-quality dance, tumbling, cheerleading and gymnastics programs across the region, providing more families with access to elite-level coaching and state-of-the-art facilities.
“We are thrilled to welcome the athletes, coaches, and families of Wight Tumble Academy and J&J Dance and Tumbling into the Kids Spot family,” said Tim Yapp, Owner. “Both gyms have built strong reputations in the community and respective industries, and we’re committed to honoring that legacy while enhancing the opportunities available to their athletes.”
The transition will ensure continuity for current students and staff, with plans to integrate best practices from each program.
Kids Spot will maintain the existing J&J training location in Pecatonica while introducing expanded class offerings, new events, and access to broader opportunities. They will be renaming the building to "Kids Spot Pecatonica" in 2026.
Formerly operating south of Roscoe, Wight Tumbling Academy will merge inside of the already existing Roscoe gym facilities owned and operated by Kids Spot. Terry Wight is still committed to coaching and staffing impacts are to remain largely unchanged.
Wight Tumble Academy, founded in 2002, has been a cornerstone of tumbling excellence, producing state and national champions under the guidance of Terry Wight.
J&J Dance and Tumbling, founded in 1958, has similarly made a strong impact with its athlete-centered coaching philosophy and commitment to fostering confidence and skill development in young athletes in Pecatonica.
