Kenneth Konetski traveled all around the world but loved having his bride by his side
Funeral will be Monday afternoon, Dec. 12, 2022.
Kenneth J. Konetski, 71, of Roscoe, IL, worked for Barber Colman for 19 years and ended up retiring after 7 years at Siemens. He was passionate about his career and loved passing on his knowledge to fellow co-workers. Ken traveled all around the world for his job but most of all, he loved to travel with his bride by his side.
He passed away on December 3, 2022.
Ken was born in Rockford, IL on December 17, 1950 to August and Stella (Podgorny) Konetski. Ken graduated from West High School in 1968 and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army and Army Reserves. He married the love of his life, Linda Sweet, on November 6, 1976 and together they raised a wonderful son.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Ken was a member of the Kepotah Sportsman Club in Shirland, IL. Ken and his son would take trips down to Texas to hunt. He loved his family and was always a fun guy to be around. Ken will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Ken is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda; his son, Joe (Lindsay Correll) Konestki; his grandsons, August Konetski and Dominic Smith; his sister, Carol (Jerry) Brugger; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Reed; his sister-in-law, Deb (Pat) Howden; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Donna Sweet.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, and staff at Rush University Medical Center and Javon Bea Hospital for all of their compassion and care.
Funeral service for Ken will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the start of service. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Ken’s name to Rush University Medical Center.
