Former Hononegah Indians basketball legend and Marquette senior Jordan King (14) scored in double figures for the 70th time in her career as the Golden Eagles opened the 2023-24 campaign with an 84-51 win over University of Tennessee (UT) Martin Monday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.

MU forced 23 turnovers and outscored UT Martin on fast break points, 29-2. The Golden Eagles finished the game shooting 57% from the floor, outscoring the Skyhawks 23-8 in the fourth quarter.

Marquette returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. CT against nationally ranked Illinois inside the Al McGuire Center.

Jordan King was a four-year letter winner and a two-time captain at Hononegah High School in Rockton, Illinois. Other accomplishments: the 2018-2019 IBCA First Team All-state for class 3A/4A, 2018-2019  NIC-10 First Team All-Conference, Conference MVP, and Outstanding Scholar-Athlete, plus NIC-10 Conference All-Time leading scorer (2,505 points), and most points scored in a game (39). She led Hononegah to two conference titles, three regional titles, one sectional/super-sectional title, and one third place finish in the state.
