The Illinois Department of Transportation says that, weather permitting, work on Illinois 2 through Rockton and South Beloit will begin Monday, Aug. 11, 2025. The work zone is from north of Roscoe Road to Prairie Hill Road.

Workers will patch, mill and resurface the road, in addition to traffic signal upgrades. There will be staged traffic with two lanes open in each direction during the $2 million project, which is expected to be completed by Oct. 31.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zone areas, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
