Ian Scharre of Stephen Mack climbed to 2nd at the 2025 IESA state bowling championship
A 794 three-game set (a new IESA Middle School state record) helped the Stephen Mack middle schooler rocket up the leaderboard.
Eight-grader Ian Scharre finished the IESA state tournament in 2nd place in Joliet on April 12-13, 2025.
After Friday's first two games, Ian sat in 84th place. But over the next eight games, Ian climbed his way back to finish the tournament as the runner-up. Saturday morning, a 794 three-game set (it's a new IESA Middle School State Record) helped the Stephen Mack middle schooler rocket up the leaderboard.
Ian's warrior performance might force the Merriam-Webster dictionary to change their definition to his.
Middle School Bowling Coach Brad Sommer mentioned, "Ian’s high rev rate and 18.5 mph ball speed is fun to watch."
